Green Party councillor for North Walworth
Term started: 7 May 2026
Rebecca is a North Walworth resident, born locally, who has returned home after decades of service internationally to serve her community. She is a human rights and protection specialist with nearly two decades of local and international experience working with children and vulnerable adults, and communities affected by violence, conflict and disaster — including a decade of service with United Nations Peace Operations protecting children in situations of armed conflict. Back in the UK, she has worked in crisis support organisations and as Lead Advocate for young people in Southwark with Barnardo’s. She is also a local artist and a volunteer gardener, and founder of an organisation working with violence-affected young people. Rebecca is proud of the strong, diverse community in Walworth, but she knows people have been let down too many times. She lives in social housing and sees the impact on young people of growing up amid partially demolished housing and neglect by the local authority. Rebecca believes in tackling the causes of insecurity — housing, jobs and support services — and prioritising needs of local people, not developers. Following her overseas service, she lives with disability, and understands the indignity and delays many people face accessing even basic support. Rebecca brings professional experience and a real commitment to listen and work hard for her community.
