Rowshon Uddin

Green Party councillor for Arthur's Hill

Term started: 7 May 2026

Green Party

’m a west end lad, a Geordie. Been living here most of my life. Went to Westgate Hill Primary and then Heaton Manor Secondary. I’m married, my wife’s a dinner lady and my son attends a local secondary school. I live locally, in an ex-Council house in a Council estate. I’m a Town Planner by profession, having worked for both the private sector and local Councils. Before that I use to be a Community Development Worker employed at various charities including Gateshead CVS. I owned and ran a Planning Design Consultancy and a Pizza shop business. I have served as a senior Committee Member with Newcastle Mela, the NBA and the UBYA. The same UBYA that use to be based at the former Murray House now NUcastle Foundation. I have been a voice for the community with Spice FM presenting a weekly show for over three years discussing community issues. I have firsthand experience recruiting people, writing strategy, implementing policies, managing budgets, and executing meaningful action. Former Councillor, the late Nigel Todd was one of my political inspirations. One of his flagship projects was the Greening Wingrove & Arthurs Hill initiative. Both to honour his legacy and continue the good work, I pledge to continue supporting the project during my term. I decided to become a Councillor because, like you, I’m tired of the same old Council and want to see change. I’m standing as an Independent because I believe the loyalty of any political representative should be to their community and not some party leader.
