Chris Cooke

I'm a relative newcomer to Wokingham, after moving from the north a year ago to join my partner. It's a beautiful area with lots of amazing people in it, and I've been lucky enough to meet people from all corners of our community. They have inspired me to step up to serve as a borough councillor and help our communities to thrive. I've been a science teacher for 20 years, and am now teaching in a local senior girls school, where I can encourage them to enjoy and excel in STEM subjects. I also help out with the Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs in the local area. I was attracted to the Lib Dems as they offer an inclusive approach to our society and do not seem to favour one group over another. I passionately feel that local councils should focus more on serving their communities and less on political infighting and having seen first hand how the Party deal with others it is clearly a good fit for me. I think the council faces many challenges but I am keen to get involved in dealing with the issues the residents face.
