Labour councillor for St Mary's
Council: Adur
Term started: 7 May 2026
I am leader of Adur council. We are listening to our community and getting things done. We support people most challenged by the cost of living; making sure pensioners who are eligible get pension credit; moving people on to lower social tariffs reducing their water bills. The community across Adur and Worthing is £4m better off as a result of this work. One of the biggest challenges we have is the lack of affordable homes for our residents. We are building council homes. We are working with housing associations so that more local residents are coming off our housing list into new homes. I want to defend and enhance our environment. We have planted 4,000 trees. We’re introducing a scheme for more trees in our streets. Our bin lorries no longer use diesel. We have nurtured the extraordinary Sussex Bay project working to revive nature in our waters and estuary. We will be introducing food waste recycling collections from homes later this year. We want people to have pride in their neighbourhood. We’re cleaning up town and village centres. We're bringing money in to our district to improve community facilities and infrastructure in Fishersgate, Southwick, Shoreham and Lancing.
