Liberal Democrats

Sian was a frontline third sector worker for 30 years before running for local election in 2022. Her priority is working in genuine collaboration to support social cohesion, resilience, self-sufficiency and wellbeing. She is working within the county council and in the wider community to develop collaborative mechanisms and systems of decision-making in which people from varied backgrounds across our diverse Powys society work together as equals, and our collective intelligence informs and shapes council and community decision-making processes. She is driven by her awareness of the depth and seriousness of the climate and nature meta-crisis and its impacts on every aspect of our own local and national society, culture and operating systems; on people all over the world, especially those least responsible for causing it; and on the other life forms with whom we share the Earth's one and only life support system. Her work to bring people together to design and operate local solutions is motivated by a belief that the increasing division throughout society will weaken our resilience to manage climate and nature breakdown, and by her conviction, born of her lived experience, her working life learning, her personal reading and study and her higher education, that human wellbeing rests on being connected with other living beings, in all their forms, and contributing to their wellbeing, as well as to our own.
