Matt Bishop

Matt Bishop is the Labour MP for the Forest of Dean, committed to ensuring that the voices of local people are heard in Westminster and that his constituency receives the investment and attention it deserves. A former police officer, Matt is a passionate advocate for tackling violence against women and girls, strengthening policing, and supporting our emergency services. He also champions better emotional and financial support for families of seriously ill children, improved education and SEND provision, greater access to healthcare—particularly women's health—and better roads, transport and infrastructure that enable sustainable growth while meeting the needs of local communities. Matt is dedicated to supporting local businesses, creating opportunities for young people, and ensuring new housing is matched by the schools, healthcare, transport and services that communities need. His campaigns include improving roads and transport across the Forest of Dean, protecting local schools such as Forest High School, delivering SEND events with parents, carers and professionals, and running a Mock Parliament programme to inspire the next generation to engage in democracy. Listening to constituents is at the heart of Matt's work. He regularly holds advice surgeries, coffee mornings and community events to hear local concerns, shape national policy and provide practical support.
