I am asking the Government to fund local councils and National Highways to provide mandatory protective barriers along major roads and highways. We think these barriers would prevent animals from entering the road, and could help reduce accidents, protect drivers, and save animals’ lives.

Fund a new government-backed animal cruelty policing unit
Fund a government-backed Animal Cruelty Policing Unit that has legal authority to seize animals, enforce fines and force entry in cases where there are reasonable grounds to believe that an offence against a protected animal has occurred under Section 9 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Legal barriers preventing animal rescue access
Animal rescue organizations face legal obstacles that delay property access during animal welfare emergencies, resulting in suffering and loss of life in abandoned animal situations.
Review highway code for vulnerable road users and fund a tv awareness campaign
We feel the Highway Code updates don’t go far enough for vulnerable road users. We believe the 2-metre distance when passing cyclists, horse riders or carriage drivers cannot be proven. We also feel the police do not enforce the code and we are not taken seriously enough when reporting incidents.
Speeding vehicles injuring animals on Stanley Road
Residents are concerned about the high speed of vehicles on Stanley Road in Teddington, which is resulting in animals being maimed or killed. A proposal for speed humps is being discussed.
Poor road maintenance and repair funding
Roads are in poor condition with inadequate maintenance. Concerns raised about council accountability for repair spending and transparency in how council tax is allocated.
