Give employees the right to bereavement Leave for Death of a Colleague
I would like the Government/Parliament to give employees the right to bereavement leave if a colleague dies. So people don't need to worry about job security if they feel they need to take time off.
Create a legal entitlement to two weeks’ paid bereavement leave for employees
We call on the Government to create a legal entitlement to two weeks (10 working days) of paid bereavement leave for employees, which can be taken flexibly and in separate periods where needed, to ensure consistent protection for bereaved workers across the UK.
Parental Bereavement Legislation on par with UK Maternity/Paternity Legislation
Every parent who loses a child should have the time and financial support to grieve — just as parents are supported when welcoming a child. UK law provides only 2 weeks statutory parental bereavement leave (often unpaid), leaving parents to return to work far too soon after unimaginable loss.
Give all parents the legal right to participate in their child’s funeral
I want Parliament to pass a law to give both parents the right to attend their child’s funeral unless legally prevented, and for Government to provide statutory guidance to funeral directors to protect these rights.
Expand eligibility for bereavement damages to adult children
Update the Fatal Accidents Act 1976 so adult children can claim bereavement damages for their parent’s death. We feel this current law excludes many families, is outdated, and needs reform to reflect modern family relationships.
