Require schools to teach British Sign Language from Key Stage 2 & at GCSE

Fund mandatory SEN and mental health training for all teachers. We are concerned that many children with special educational needs are being failed, as mainstream staff often lack the skills and qualifications to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Fund and require schools to provide trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming education in schools. This should include understanding threat responses, co-created sensory tools, protective behaviour policies, and ring-fenced money for early intervention and counselling, and training for staff.
