Equalise maternity allowance with statutory pay & don’t reduce Universal Credit

We urge the Government to equalise maternity, paternity and adoption allowances with statutory maternity pay for self-employed workers and ensure that maternity allowance pay does not reduce Universal Credit pay. We believe families shouldn’t be penalised for being self-employed.

Universal credit increase for SEN and twins or other multiples of children

Increase funding for parents of SEN children and those who have had multiples such as twins/triplets in order to be able to afford more appropriate childcare like a dedicated Nanny for the family because childminders and nurseries for many in this situation are not able to accommodate such children.

Include Child Maintenance as Income in Universal Credit and Means-Tested Benefit

Child maintenance payment is not counted as income for Universal Credit, allowing some to receive maintenance payments and benefits. At the same time, paying parents must meet their obligations even where those payments reduce their overall household income below the Universal Credit threshold.

Change Universal Credit so second parent earnings don't affect family’s payment

We want the Government to change Universal Credit so that any earnings of a second parent in a couple do not reduce the overall family’s payment. The current policy discourages people from taking up work.

Free School Meal criteria to include all families receiving UC, DLC & benefits

Change the criteria for Free School Meals to include the Full Universal Credit Lists as well as the legacy benefits, also increasing the minimum amount you can earn as the minimum wage has increased significantly since this was last reviewed.
