Free School Meal criteria to include all families receiving UC, DLC & benefits

National
·16 reactions·100% agree

Change the criteria for Free School Meals to include the Full Universal Credit Lists as well as the legacy benefits, also increasing the minimum amount you can earn as the minimum wage has increased significantly since this was last reviewed. But have separate categories for children with SEN & DLA

Expand free school meals provision to cover all school children

I would like the Government to expand free school meals to cover all school children up until the end of sixth form.

Equalise the child benefit with UC child element & expand eligibility

Raise the child benefit for full-time working parents with mortgages to match the Universal Credit child element and expand Universal Credit eligibility to include homeowners with mortgages, treating mortgage costs similarly to rent.

Fund free uniform for children who get free school meals

I would like parliament to consider that some parents struggle to afford branded school uniform. I think it is extremely expensive, especially as children are likely to outgrow these clothes. I think the government should consider single parents who work multiple jobs spending over £100.

Include children not living with one parent in all benefits and housing claims

When applying for Universal Credit or Social Housing, you are only allowed to declare children that permanently reside with you. The government should amend the law to allow children that visit on a regular basis to be included in these calculations.

Fund free school meals for medically unfit & unplaced home-educated children

The Government should fund free school meals for children who are home-educated and who are medically unfit to attend school or are awaiting school placement. We believe no child should go hungry due to illness or lack of an appropriate school place.
