Cancel the planned pay-per-mile road tax for electric vehicles. We want to stop unfair double-taxing of drivers who already pay a premium VED surcharge on family-sized EVs and hybrids.

Scrap either EV pay-per-mile tax or Vehicle Excise Duty for EVs. Don't have both
From 2028 electric car owners will pay BOTH VED car tax and 3p per mile. We think this will punish working people and families resulting in around £300 extra for 10000 miles on top of £195 VED tax for many EVs. It's not like the electricity to charge the car hasn't already been taxed.
Stop mileage tax on electric & plug-in hybrid cars & reduce public charging VAT
To remove the planned mileage tax on electric and plugin-hybrid cars, and to equalise VAT on public charging to 5% to support adoption.
Revise the eVED Taxation on Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHEVs)
We call on the Government to revise the proposed eVED charge to prevent 'unfair' double taxation. PHEV drivers pay a flat 1.5p/mile even on petrol miles, where they already pay 53.95p/L fuel duty. We believe this discriminates against those who adopted hybrids in good faith to reduce emissions.
Do not introduce pay-per-mile road charging for UK drivers
Many people depend on driving for work, education, and family life, with no viable public transport. We think a pay-per-mile tax would unfairly hit many families, shift workers and parents supporting children’s sports.
Apply the 1.5p per mile levy on hybrid cars only on electric miles driven
From April 2028, the UK Government plans to introduce a mileage-based road tax of 1.5p per mile for hybrids, alongside Vehicle Excise Duty. Hybrids will also keep paying fuel duty when using petrol, meaning they are taxed twice, through fuel duty and the new mileage levy on all miles driven.
