In Archie's own words

I’m honoured to stand as the Green Party candidate for Droylsden East, offering my friends and neighbours the chance to vote for real change.

After nearly a decade as a member of the Labour Party, I came to realise in recent years that the pressing, everyday challenges facing local people were simply not being addressed. I know many others feel the same. That’s why I’m now standing for the Green Party – to show that there is a genuine alternative to the 2 party system ingrained in our country. The growing, grassroots support for the Green Party, and the fantastic response to the campaign in Gorton and Denton by Hannah Spencer MP and her team, shows that a different way forward is not only possible, but already taking shape.

As a science teacher, I see first-hand how deeply environmental, social and personal issues affect our young people. They are facing challenges we could hardly have imagined ten or twenty years ago, yet what stands out most is their determination and eagerness to be the change they want to see in the world. By investing in youth services and giving young people more opportunities to get involved in their community, we can help people of all ages feel empowered to shape the future of our area.

Our green spaces should be something everyone in Droylsden East can take pride in. We need to protect and improve our parks, waterways and open spaces, making them safer and more accessible for all. Doing so is not just an environmental issue, but supports our health, strengthens our community, and makes our area a better place to live.

As your councillor, I will ensure that local people of all ages are heard and given genuine opportunities to engage in local decision-making. By working together, we can build a stronger, fairer and greener future for everyone in Droylsden East.
