Katharine Amelia Christabel Kandelaki
Green Party candidate for Hounslow East
I care deeply about the environment, and loss of biodiversity. I entered politics due to poor air pollution and the increasing concerns of the climate crisis. I previously undertook pro bono legal work on the nuclear power consultation in 2009/2010 and did research on the nuclear industry, with the aim of requiring the government to agree to a Public Inquiry into future nuclear power contracts in the UK. I attended CND talks/campaigns on spreading information about the full details relating to the nuclear industry. Green politics is the future. I will tirelessly campaign for the prioritisation of environmental needs over economic growth and push for my borough to seriously work towards reducing air pollution, and achieve cleaner air for residents, especially children. There should be restrictions implemented on traffic flow by schools, improvements in air quality throughout the borough. The Government is failing to protect its residents and children against respiratory and other diseases caused by air pollution, by road and air. We desperately need change, and a proper roadmap in place to net zero. Our rivers, waterways and seas need to be cleaned up and protected. I promote a fair taxation system where corporations are proportionately responsible for pollution, we must stop taxation loopholes. We need money to be spent on the renewables industry and NHS. We have to fight for a world based on fairness and equality.
