In Zahra's own words

I have lived in Cheshunt for nearly a decade and have grown deeply attached to the community and its people. My professional background is in education, as I’m a former primary school teacher and I now work for a local charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable residents. In addition to my work, I volunteer with Cheshunt Library, where I help run the Home Library Service for residents in both Cheshunt and Waltham Cross. I also play an active role in the Summer Reading Challenge, encouraging young people to develop a lifelong love of books and learning.

My involvement with Broxbourne Labour began out of a deep frustration with years of Conservative complacency and neglect. I’ve seen first-hand the damage caused by a steady decline in public services, the ongoing cost of living crisis, and the growing sense that ordinary people are being left behind. I joined Labour because I believe in building a fairer, more compassionate society, one that listens to its residents and invests in their futures. I want to be part of a movement that delivers real change for our community and restores a sense of hope and progress.
