In Kola's own words

I am your local candidate standing up on the platform of the Labour Party to contest for Councillor, New Addington North in the upcoming byelections on Thursday 6th May 2021.

New Addington is my home and have lived here for 10 years having settled in the UK over 15 years ago with my family in search of a better life. In my day job, I work full time in Kingston University as a Laboratory Technical officer, work that enables me to support our young people succeed.

I am heartbroken to see what 11 years of a Conservative government has done to Croydon - our youth services, policing, and our economy. Our old people are vulnerable, and our young people do not have the opportunities many of us enjoyed. We must fight back for better services.

I am a firm believer in community values, enabling everyone's voice to be heard and justice for all, no matter your background or where you live. Covid 19 was a dark time for all of us – but in many ways we saw the best of our community, as everyone helped each other to cope.

My pledges to you if elected. I will:

1. Listen - as an active Councillor I will engage, listen, and work with our resident's association, community groups and businesses to enable us to take the decisions to own our future.

2. Act - work with residents and community groups to challenge the council and private landlords to improve accommodation conditions, to save our local boxing club and to make our streets clean and safe and to provide opportunities for our young people.

3. Fight crime - create a new plan with our community for the positive things we want to see in New Addington to address safety and crime.

4. Campaign to protect our health service – we need more mental health support for New Addington as we recover from the Covid 19 pandemic.

5. Fight for local wealth and opportunities - creating an economic plan for our local high street and for Vulcan way - keeping jobs local and creating work experiences for young people.
