In Andy's own words

I am Andy NG Siu-hong. I was a District Councillor in Hong Kong where I worked very hard to serve the community and strive for democracy. In 2021 I was forced to resign and leave Hong Kong for safety as Beijing carried out mass arrests of Democratic politicians. I now live in Earley with my family and have a son who attends Maiden Earley School.

To serve the community and strive for fairness and good have been my aspirations since I was a kid. I enjoy solving people’s problems, making people’s voices heard, improving governing, and upholding democratic values. Now I serve as a volunteer in some British Hong Kong people's organisations and the Lib Dems, for the community and for upholding democratic values.

I know how important a councillor is to the local community and how symbolic it is to be probably the first former Hong Kong District Councillor elected in the UK. Although my mission to serve as a councillor was suppressed in Hong Kong, as we share many of the same British values in this great country, I know I will have the hope to restart my life's campaign. For the community, for a fair deal, and for democracy.
