In Janet's own words

The Camden Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce Janet Grauberg as their candidate for the upcoming West Hampstead by-election, now called for Thursday 28th August.

Janet is a long-standing local campaigner who has lived in NW6 for 35 years and has spent years volunteering for our community. From serving as a school governor to co-founding the West Hampstead Community Food Hub during the Covid pandemic, Janet has consistently stepped up to support and advocate for local people.

“I’m offering energy, enthusiasm, and a real care for the community of West Hampstead,” Janet said. “I would be an active, accessible, and strong voice for residents on Camden Council.”

In the 2022 local elections, Janet came just 38 votes short of winning a seat from Labour in West Hampstead—one of the closest results in the borough. Since then, she hasn’t stopped working for local people. Highlights include:

● Leading Lib Dem opposition to the overdevelopment plans for the O2 Centre site. Janet supports building new homes, but believes the plans for 17-storey blocks fail to deliver enough affordable housing or green space for the community.

● Teaming up with Lib Dem Councillor Nancy Jirira (Fortune Green) to campaign against Camden’s messy policy of leaving black bin bags on our high streets.

● Keeping residents informed about key local issues—such as school-run traffic restrictions, planning and licensing applications, and how best to report rough sleeping and anti-social behaviour.

Janet added: “I know I could do so much more if I were elected as your councillor. This by-election is a chance to choose someone who will listen to residents, stand up for this area, and work hard week in, week out, for the local community.

The Liberal Democrats are proud to be standing a candidate with such deep roots in the area and a strong record of community action.
