Councillor Candidate
Clare Walters

Clare Walters

Green Party candidate for Dalton

Green Party

Clare says: “I believe in strong communities, reliable public transport and well-funded local services.” In Denby Dale this means: • ensuring that housing developments reflect the preferences of local people, using brownfield sites and eyesores first; protecting our local amenities and green spaces and not over-stretching local services; • pushing for enough energy efficient starter and retirement homes so local residents can access affordable housing suitable for their needs without moving out of the village; • increasing the frequency of buses to town so we needn’t rely on cars to get to work, school and larger shops; • doing everything possible to keep local amenities open in the villages. Clare Walters has lived in Kirklees for nearly 30 years and her 4 children went to Shelley pyramid schools. She worked in nature conservation for 15 years and now works from home, training practitioners in health and wellbeing. She has a strong interest in biodynamic agriculture.
