Labour candidate for St Ives East

Getting the basics rights - an active, visible and committed Councillor for St Ives East. Hi, I'm Luke. I've been an active member of our community since moving to Huntingdonshire - attending civic events, supporting local charities, and doorknocking around St Ives to hear your concerns. **My pledges for St Ives East** ➡️ **Active, visible and committed.** I will canvass all year round, not only for elections. I’ll hold regular, well advertised surgeries in local venues for all. ➡️ **Championing St Ives community groups.** I’ll be a District Councillor who shows up at community events and pushes for local organisation funding. ➡️ **Pride in St Ives.** Working with the Labour Government, I will fight for fair funding for our local councils so St Ives gets the resources it needs. ➡️ **Supporting affordable housing with new infrastructure.** I’ll work with the council to deliver affordable housing with the much needed infrastructure in first. ➡️ **Getting the basics right.** No issue is too small - from reporting potholes to weeds, I will be responsive and ensure residents get value for their council tax.** ➡️ **Keeping our council local in the new unitaries.** Like all Labour District and County Councillors and candidates in Huntingdonshire, I supported Option E for an independent Huntingdonshire Council and campaigned against the Liberal Democrat County Council's preferred option to merge us with Fenland and Peterborough. Some parties make appealing promises in local elections - such as "fixing the NHS" or changing immigration policy. This is a local district council election, not an election for Members of Parliament. The question to ask is - who would be an active and committed local representative? Who would keep to the values they were elected to represent? Unlike the 2022 elections, all parties are standing in St Ives East. Every vote will truly matter. **Please vote for me, Luke Viner, on the 7th of May.**
