Councillor Candidate
Tim Andrews

Tim Andrews

Labour candidate for Fen Ditton & Fulbourn

Active on State

Labour

Lived in the Fen Ditton & Fulbourn ward for 36 years, a Fulbourn parish councillor since 2023, and stood previously for both county and district councils. Before retirement, Tim was a senior partner in a firm of patent attorneys, setting up and running the firm’s highly successful Cambridge office. Tim wants to be elected to ensure that developers are forced to provide the infrastructure we need such as improved roads, expanded GP surgeries and play facilities sooner rather than later as our community continues to grow, as well as ensuring all our children have the best possible educational outcomes. Tim wants to ensure that after years of failure under both Conservative and Lib Dem control, the South Cambs District Council ensures that all developments have at least 40% affordable housing, with a substantial proportion of that being social housing for rent. Tim will also advocate for a policy of ensuring that priority is given to those with a link to local villages when social housing is allocated. Tim has been an active campaigner in Fen Ditton & Fulbourn, playing a significant role in introducing the 20mph zone in Fulbourn, setting up a petition to force the County Council to get a grip of the renewal of the road maintenance contranct which currently incentivises the contractors to do a poor job at council tax payers expense and leading to the terrible state of the roads at present, and has advocated for families who are trying to get a council house in their local village. If elected, Tim will run regular surgeries and knock on residents' doors to ensure that he is up to date with the concerns of residents. By voting Labour and for Tim and the other Labour candidates in Fen Ditton & Fulbourn, Angela Platt and Chris Bailey, the ward would elect three hard working, locally based councillors who would provide an alternative voice to stand up for the people of our community, to ensure that damaging decisions are not made by a Lib Dem dominated council.
