In Martin's own words

Part of the Libdem team for Histon, Impington and Orchard Park, we propose to make the South Cambridgeshire Green, Vibrant and Safe. In particular we wish to incorporate a sustainable policy framework for our village to protect the environment that attracts people here. My own particular priorities are to ensure that opportunities are provided to promote and expand our network of green spaces, that we facilitate the provision of housing that is accessible to our younger generation, and that we ensure that our lifestyle doesn't put that of future generations at risk.

I have a particular interest in maintaining the diversity of our community. Married to an EU national, I have seen the worries and insecurity they have been subjected to and will press the local authority to make our foreign partners, in particular EU citizens, welcome in the District.

I am a qualified town planner with 20 years experience as an ecologist and countryside manager in a Welsh local authority, and 12 years as a project manager in a European network of local authorities interested in sustainable energy. This gives me a good understanding of how local authorities work and what they can achieve. I would be delighted to put that experience to the use of South Cambridgeshire.
