Councillor Candidate

Marian Wingrove

Labour candidate for Belmont

Labour

I was born and educated in Sutton. I returned to Sutton in 2008 and live in Belmont ward. Since 2008 I have been a volunteer at a local charity where I have helped hundreds of residents with claims for Attendance Allowance, consumer issues and many other problems, sometimes saving them hundreds of pounds. I also represent patients from my GP practice at the Patients’ Representative Group for the South West London area of the NHS. My experience in these roles made me aware that many disabled people found it almost impossible to complete the on line application for a Blue Badge. Last year I managed to persuade council officials to provide face-to-face help with online applications where needed. I have recently become a mentor supporting a troubled young person to achieve her potential. As your councillor I would be able to use the skills I have acquired to help residents struggling with bureaucracy. I am a life-long campaigner against all forms of racism and an active supporter of Sutton Friends of Palestine.
