In Glyn's own words

Glyn Goodwin is standing for election in Wandsworth Common on the 5th May 2022, having previously got a record number of votes for a Green in the General Election standing in Tooting 2019. He got involved with politics after realising nobody was doing anything about carbon emissions and climate change. He led the 10,000 petition with a record 12,300 signatures to get Wandsworth council to declare a Climate Emergency. Done apolitically he eventually had to write the story of the 10,000 after a local parliamentary candidate erroneously repeated it was him. https://medium.com/@glynkgoodwin/the-wandsworth-climate-emergency-the-facts-fee4ebe984f3 He is the winner of the Wandsworth Mayor’s special prize for tackling climate change. As Co-founder of the influential COP26 Climate action plan he worked cross party to get support fo the plan. It has over 1000 NGO's sign up and was mentioned by The governor of the Bank of England , the Conservative Environment Network and the leader of the Labour party. Libdem environment lead in the house of Lords, Baroness Sheehan also voiced support as did Stop Ecocide International, Friends of the Earth and influential doughnut economist Kate Raworth. https://copclimateactionplan.com. He was invited on to Sir David King's Climate Change adivisory Group talk and initiated a series of open climate meetings for councillors and residents. He is quoted in Climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe's latest book as being an inspirational figure. https://www.theguardian.com/books/2021/oct/31/saving-us-by-katharine-hayhoe-review-across-the-climate-crisis-divide During lockdown he co-founded a local PPE initiative which at its height involved around 300 people manufacturing and supplying free PPE to hospitals, care homes and those in need. He is also is a committee member with local refugee group Just Shelter, https://www.justshelter.co.uk He fought for school streets, is a Tree Warden and a local dad. He was active in the Save York Gardens campaign to save mature trees being unnecessarily cut down by developers in Battersea and campaigned to ban the toxic weedkiller Glyphosate, routinely sprayed on our streets. https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/call-on-wandsworth-borough-council-to-ban-roundup His imaginative plan to create a new Earlsfield Square, creating a new community amenity and market in accordance with the Local plan has been a breath of fresh air! Local Manifesto here: https://wandsworth.greenparty.org.uk/2022/04/20/manifesto-2022-the-real-green-deal/

As a councillor he would concentrate on the climate and ecological emergency and the solutions, whoever is in charge.
