In Rosie's own words

*About Rosie*

I am a Londoner born and bred, and I have lived in the Lea Bridge ward for over a decade. Raising my family here, I understand the importance of community and I am increasingly aware of the impact local government decisions have on our day-to-day lives. I have worked in the entertainment industry for 20 years as a circus artist, performing around the globe and teaching performing arts to adults and young people of all ages.

I love the joy and connection that live performance can bring, and the expansive way in which circus pushes the boundaries of what is humanly possible. I believe we need this same approach in our politics, which is why I join the Greens in 2021. Too often ordinary people are left feeling powerless against big business and monied interests, without a real say in decision-making. But when we come together, our power is limitless.

*What Rosie stands for*

Having been encouraged to stand as a councillor by fellow Waltham Forest Green Party members, I am keen to meet other Lea Bridge residents and hear their concerns. I aim to promote the needs of ward residents as strongly as possible. Lea Bridge is one of the most deprived areas of Waltham Forest, with the lowest number of GP surgeries relative to its population.

It is vulnerable to overdevelopment, and multiple projects in the pipeline will put the community’s health at risk. I hope to scrutinise all plans affecting Lea Bridge residents and advocate for my community. I am also outraged by the inaction our current councillors have shown in relation to the war crimes being committed by the state of Israel with the help of the UK government. I promise to push the council to fulfil its commitment to divest pension funds from all companies complicit in war crimes.
