Mike Massimi
Liberal Democrats councillor for Old Malden
Council: Kingston upon Thames
Term ends: 2 May 2030
Mike Massimi has served as a councillor in Old Malden for several years and has built a reputation as one of the most hands-on and results-focused members in the Royal Borough of Kingston. With over 1,100 resident enquiries and cases raised alongside fellow councillor Elizabeth Park, he has consistently focused on practical, visible improvements rather than promises. On safety, the results speak for themselves. Years of regular ward walks with police, early intervention on issues like street lighting, abandoned vehicles and fly-tipping, and genuine community engagement have transformed the ward. Key achievements include: - Old Malden was ranked the safest ward in the whole of London for thefts, burglaries and robberies by the end of 2025, out of more than 625 wards across the capital, based on Metropolitan Police data for both total crimes and the rate per 1,000 residents. - Over 230 residents trained in CPR and lifesaving skills through St John Ambulance One of the highest concentrations of defibrillators and bleed control kits anywhere in London - The UK's first DfT-approved hedgehog crossing signs, introduced in Old Malden and since adopted across the country - Road maintenance work highlighted by the AA as an example of best practice nationally - Protecting our ward’s heritage, biodiversity, and conservation areas. - Zero-tolerance on fly-tipping, with stronger protections for local green spaces and biodiversity His approach hasn't changed: listen to residents, act on what they raise, and deliver something tangible. Mike has always preferred to underpromise and overdeliver — quietly getting things done rather than making noise about what might happen. Old Malden is a safer, cleaner and greener place than it was, and he intends to keep it that way.
