David Llewellyn Gardner

Labour councillor for Charlton Village & Riverside

Active on State

Term started: 7 May 2026

Labour

Cllr David Gardner has lived in Charlton for 31 years, firstly in Heathwood Gardens and now in Charlton Village having moved here because of Maryon Wilson Animal Park and our green spaces. His children attended Pound Park and Thorntree schools where he served as a governor for many years. He loves the sense of community and campaigns hard for further improvements for an even better, fairer, cleaner, greener and safer Charlton for all. He has been active in many local groups and as an experienced councillor knows how to make a difference. SECURED - the 486 bus route when it started and restored 8 trains an hour at peak times through Charlton; a Woolwich station on the Lizzie line when it was originally by-passed. FOUGHT - to retain our wonderful Maryon Wilson Animal Park and (with many others) to Save our White Swan and to stop inappropriate, poor high-rise development in Charlton Riverside. SAVED - Charlton Lido from closure before it was refurbished and heated. PROTECTED - Our proud heritage supporting establishing and extending our three Conservation areas and listing many new buildings including the Assembly Rooms.
