Helen MacKenzie Bell

Green Party councillor for Whitley Bay North

Term started: 7 May 2026

Green Party

Hi, my name is Helen and I’ve lived and worked in the North East for the past twenty five years. I joined the Green Party because I want to make a difference for the future of our children and I feel that this is the Party which can offer hope to the next generation. I’ve been impressed by the knowledge, commitment and passion of our local activists and I’m proud to be standing as a candidate in Whitley Bay North. Our local area needs to be protected and supported so that all of our residents can thrive and I am committed to working towards social inclusion for all of us. As a teacher I am well aware of the disparities in our area and I would want to work towards a fairer and a greener future for all. Social justice and climate justice are fundamentally linked and I feel that Green voices on our council can only help to promote and develop these goals. Local democracy is vital and I would like to promote real youth inclusion in our area rather than the division which can so easily take root. We live in a fantastic area and I feel that Green policies can only improve on this by embedding the changes we need for our shared future.
