Liberal Democrats councillor for Wroughton and Wichelstowe
I’m Martin Barrett, I grew up and was educated in Swindon. I joined the navy and came to Wroughton in 1989 with my family, my wife Melanie and four children. We have always been involved in the village, supporting the scouts and football club. I have always been a keen supporter of the locals with sport. I would like to help the village supporting the young people as well as all residents in having sporting facilities, that unfortunately we still don’t have. I was a founder member of Wroughton junior football club and started Wroughton twinning with our our twin town, Saint-Germain in France. Children of all ages took part in a football tournament organised by our host St Germain St Pierre. I am a member of the North Wiltshire Woodturners and tutor at the W.B. Men’s Shed. I am supporting the Wichelstowe Health Centre as we need this as quickly as possible. The demand on the Wroughton Health Centre has been so much that we need the new health centre for all the people in Wroughton and Wichelstowe. There are so many potholes in the village and the lack of repair, it is not just the roads, it is the pavements which are a blight, as a lot of young children using the schools and for the elderly to get around the village, they need to be sorted as soon as possible.
