Robert Pattison
Reform UK councillor for Washington South
Council: Sunderland
Term ends: 2 May 2030
A proud Washington resident for over 50 years, Robert is a married, retired time-served tradesman who helped build the original Washington New Town back in the day. Starting on the tools, he worked his way up to Clerk of Works for the Regional Health Authority before setting up his own successful company. He went on to deliver major projects for health authorities, Durham University and local councils across the country and internationally, working in Northern and Southern Europe, Africa and South America – but always taking the same practical, no-nonsense approach. With strong experience in highways and road construction, Robert knows only too well the difference between proper reinstatement and the repeated pothole patching that continues to frustrate so many residents. Now retired and living in Fatfield, he is standing for Reform UK in Washington South because it’s time for straight-talking, common-sense representation that actually puts local people first. Robert is determined to make a real difference right where he lives in Fatfield and right across the South ward communities of Rickleton, Harraton, Staithes, Teal Farm, Mount Pleasant, and the Wear & Pattinson areas. Robert’s Priorities: - Fixing our roads properly - Drawing on his highways expertise, Robert will demand genuine, lasting reinstatement works so we stop wasting money on the same potholes year after year. - Standing up for Fatfield and local services - Making sure Fatfield and all our estates get the attention they deserve on roads, verges, drainage, bin collections and cleaner streets. - Better value for council tax - Fighting for reliable services and sensible spending that delivers real results for residents and businesses across Washington South. - Sensible development - Supporting community-led improvements that genuinely benefit local people, such as better sports and recreational facilities with adequate parking, while listening carefully to residents and protecting our valued green spaces and existing neighbourhoods from over-development. - Straight-talking representation - Bringing his lifetime of practical experience to the council table so Washington South finally gets the honest, no-fluff voice it needs. As George Washington said: “Truth will ultimately prevail.”
