Wellington Gil

Green Party councillor for New Cross Gate

Term started: 7 May 2026

Green Party

Born in the Dominican Republic, Wellington is a Spanish citizen who has lived in London for 11 years, 8 of them in Lewisham. As a Latin American and first-generation immigrant, he’s intimately familiar with the challenges our community faces: council negligence, tenant abuses, and lack of support for social housing and young people with disabilities like his daughter. “I want to be the voice of the Latin American community in Lewisham, advocating for rights, improving access to services, promoting Spanish in schools, fostering Latin culture, health, employment, and transparency.”
