Term ends: 4 May 2028

Labour

I've been a councillor in Witney since 2011 and lived here since 1996. Originally from Pontefract, I came to Oxfordshire in 1982 as a physics student at Wadham College, then became a science publisher in a number of local companies. I still produce textbooks for cancer care professionals alongside my roles in politics. I am a Labour & Cooperative councillor, meaning I believe that what happens in our communities should determine how our councils and government act. Bottom-up not top-down, poltiics is about providing a safe and vibrant community in which everyone can thrive. In 2023 I became Deputy Leader of West Oxfordshire District Council with a brief to grow our economy with new opportunities for everyone. My main focus has been supporting local businesses and reviving our town and village centres. The refreshed charter markets in Witney and Chippy are part of that, as is the rejuvenation of Marriotts Walk with events throughout the year.
