Conservative

I was born in Salford and lived there until 1998 when I moved to Blackpool aged 21. Since coming here, I have always lived around the Common Edge, Highfield, and Midgeland Roads area. In those early days I played amateur football for several local teams and league snooker for Stanley Ward Conservative Club, which I still try to do. I worked at BAE Systems, where I retired as an engineer after 36 years. I became interested and involved in the political scene around the turn of the century, being guided in those days by Cllr. Lily Henderson MBE. It was only after retiring from full time employment that I became a local councillor, when I felt that I could devote the time required to doing the job effectively. Since my election, I have also been appointed as a Member of the Lancashire Combined Fire Authority. If needed to support a constituent with a council issue, I can be contacted by phone or email and hold surgeries at Stanley Conservative Club, by appointment in the evenings.

What Graham's actively working on locally

Retain a bus route across Marton Moss

Approximately 9 years ago Blackpool Transport cancelled the bus service along Midgeland Road due to it not being financially viable. Following that there was no service whatsoever across Marton Moss, it being the only area in Blackpool without a service. Causing great difficulties for the elderly getting anywhere and young families trying to take their young children to the two local primary schools. In some cases residents were over a mile away from the nearest bus service. Due to a lot of campaigning, we got a 12 month temporary extension to the number 5 route, providing one bus every hour, between 9am and 6pm. This is not ideal though as it only covers a short stretch of Midgeland Rd, leaving some with quite a distance to travel on foot. What is needed is a permanent all year round route between School Rd and Highfield Rd. These residents deserve this at the very least.
