Labour

I am currently a serving District Councillor for Clay Cross North on North East Derbyshire District Council (NEDDC) and a Parish Councillor on Clay Cross Parish Council. Since first being elected in 2015, I have been dedicated to representing and supporting the residents of Clay Cross North. Over the years, I have helped residents secure adapted accommodation, assisted many in accessing the housing register, and maintained a keen interest in ensuring the housing banding system operates fairly and effectively. For more than a decade, I have worked tirelessly to support residents with a wide range of issues and have developed extensive knowledge and experience in homelessness prevention and housing matters. I have proudly served on NEDDC’s Standards Committee since 2015, helping to uphold the highest standards of conduct and governance. I also sit on the Planning Committee, a role I take very seriously given the significant levels of housing development that have taken place across our area. One of my most important responsibilities is serving as a Cabinet Member at NEDDC and being part of the Council’s Senior Leadership Team. I am currently the Portfolio Holder for Health and Leisure and serve on a number of other committees across the authority. Alongside my district council duties, I have served on Clay Cross Parish Council since 2015. As a parish Councillor, I sit on several committees and remain actively involved in local community initiatives. I am a member of the Kenning Park Community Group and was proud to co-found a local youth club, helping to create opportunities and support for young people in our community. I regularly attend coffee mornings, community events, and local meetings, ensuring I remain accessible and connected to the residents I represent. I have a seat on the Clay Cross Town Board giving residents views. Serving the people of Clay Cross North continues to be both a privilege and a responsibility that I am proud to undertake every day.
