Robert Duncan
Conservative councillor for Cheslyn Hay Village
Active on State
Council: South Staffordshire
Term ends: 6 May 2027
I have been the Conservative District Councillor for Cheslyn Hay Village on South Staffordshire District Council since 2023. I represent residents across the heart of the village, including long‑established neighbourhoods, our schools, community facilities, and the historic centre that gives Cheslyn Hay its strong identity. Cheslyn Hay has been my home for more than fifty years. It is where I built my life, raised my family, and formed the deep community ties that shape the way I work today. This isn’t just where I live it is my home, my history, and the community I am proud to serve. My career began in 1971 with BT, where I worked for over four decades as a consultant until taking early retirement in 2014. Alongside this, I served with 116 Provost Company, Royal Military Police, an experience that continues to influence my structured, disciplined, and calm approach to public service. I also serve as a Staff Sergeant with the Staffordshire Army Cadet Force, supporting young people across Cannock and surrounding communities. Helping them grow in confidence, leadership, and resilience remains one of the most rewarding parts of my life. Since becoming a councillor in 2023, I have built a reputation for being hands‑on, visible, and determined to get answers when residents are being let down. Whether dealing with the Low Street flooding, planning concerns, community safety issues, or the protection of our green spaces, I take a proactive approach: visiting locations in person, coordinating agencies, and keeping residents informed every step of the way. When something affects Cheslyn Hay, I take it personally. My focus is always on ensuring that residents receive clear communication, timely action, and proper accountability from the organisations responsible for delivering local services. My work is guided by principles that matter deeply to me and to the community I serve.
