Cllr Dr Zahra Saribal
Conservative councillor for Willerby and Kirk Ella
Active on State
Council: East Riding of Yorkshire
Term ends: 6 May 2027
I am Dr. Zahra Saribal – the Ward Councillor for **Willerby and Kirk Ella** on the East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC), a Parish Councillor for **Kirk Ella and West Ella**, and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Physics at the University of Hull, I bring a disciplined, analytical, and direct approach to local governance. I believe that effective public service relies on evidence-based decisions, practical results, and straightforward communication with residents. I am deeply committed to delivering policies that protect our community and secure a strong future for our young people. Currently, I serve as the **Vice Chair of the Children and Young People Committee**, where I focus on ensuring robust support and rigorous oversight for local families. My work also centers on community safety and respect; as the council's **White Ribbon Champion**, I recently brought forward and secured a dedicated motion to drive cultural change and end violence across our region. Balancing necessary development with the preservation of our local environment is another key priority for me. I recently supported a crucial motion to stop vast tracts of our productive agricultural land from being overtaken by massive solar farm developments, standing up instead for the protection of the East Riding landscape. Whether working as a scientist, a STEM Ambassador, or representing you on our parish and ward councils, my focus is always on providing clear, accountable, and logical leadership for our community.
