I want the Government to appreciate unpaid carers who can’t work and to increase the Carer’s Allowance so it equals the minimum wage. Many unpaid carers are only paid around £333 a month for a minimum 140 hours care every 4 weeks, which works out around £2.50 an hour.

Increase full-time Carer's Allowance to at least £840 per week
We want the government to increase the Carer’s Allowance to at least £840 per week. We believe carers should be valued within society & their worth should be reflected in the help and benefits they receive. Carers can receive £83.30 a week however they must provide care for at least 35 hours a week
Allow full-time students who provide 35+ hours care to receive Carer’s Allowance
Amend the eligibility rules for Carer’s Allowance so that people in full-time education who provide at least 35 hours of care per week can receive Carer’s Allowance, provided all other conditions are met.
Give State Pension to all at 60 and increase it to equal 48hrs of Living Wage.
We want the Government to make the State Pension available from age 60 & increase it to equal 48hrs a week at the National Living Wage. Hence from April 2026 a Universal State Pension should be £610.08 per week or about £31,724.16 per year as a right to all including expatriates, age 60 and above.
Increase the fostering allowance to support fostered children
We want the government to increase the fostering allowance. We're concerned that some foster carers have had to cease fostering due to financial difficulty. We're worried that the increase of foster children and a lack of foster carers has meant children have not received nurturing homes.
Amend the 28-day rule for the Carer’s Allowance for carers giving hospital care
Amend the Carer’s Allowance rules so unpaid carers continue to be paid their allowance after 28 days if they are still providing essential care in the hospital and require NHS trusts to confirm in writing when they cannot meet a patient’s needs and when an unpaid carer must stay and provide care.
