In Ruby's own words

I am standing as an independent candidate because I believe Brixton deserves representatives who act, not just promise.

Over the past few weeks, I have worked alongside local traders, residents and organisers to support the campaign at Brixton Plaza, where 27 small businesses were given just one month’s notice to leave. By listening, building trust and working quickly with legal experts, we helped secure a High Court injunction protecting those traders from immediate eviction.

For me, this is what local politics should look like: being present, understanding people’s lived realities, and turning that into action that delivers real outcomes.

Brixton is not short of community, creativity or resilience — but too often decisions are made without people, rather than with them. I want to change that by bringing decision-making closer to residents, supporting local businesses, and ensuring people are treated fairly and with respect.

I am not part of a political party. I am accountable to the people I represent, and I will always prioritise the needs of the community over party lines.

If elected, I will continue to show up, listen, and work relentlessly to get things done for Brixton.
