Salma couldn’t be more rooted in the Gipton and Harehills Ward - she was born and brought up in Harehills and lives in Gipton. Salma is an inspirational woman who has worked hard representing the Gipton and Harehills Ward on the Council. From taking up casework for local residents facing tough times through no fault of their own, to speaking up for Gipton and Harehills in the Council Chamber and on the media, Salma is a real champion for all the communities in the Gipton and Harehills Ward. Salma has been at the centre of supporting the community through covid. On top of that, on the Council she took on major responsibility during the covid crisis, playing a leading role pushing access to life-saving vaccines in Gipton and Harehills and across the whole city. Salma is a powerful voice and an energetic champion for the community she lives in and grew up in.
