Demetrius Williams

Green Party candidate for Leyton

Green Party

**About Demetrius Williams** I’m standing to be a Green Party councillor candidate in St James ward because our borough deserves councillors who are visible, honest and focused on what matters to residents. As a local campaigner and Waltham Forest resident, I’ve worked with a number of local community groups that amplify underrepresented voices in the borough. This includes Waltham Forest for a Free Palestine, which is currently working to hold the council accountable to its pledge to divest its pension investments from companies complicit or linked to war crimes. **What Demetrius stands for** My priorities include: _Housing and Green Spaces_ Push for genuinely affordable, high-quality homes that meet environmental standards and hold private developers to account. Protect our green spaces and preserve their biodiversity and community life. _Health and Social Care_ Promote accessible, quality healthcare (especially for vulnerable residents) and strengthen local social care support. _Safer, Cleaner Streets_ Tackle pollution, improve safety and keep our streets and public spaces clean, inclusive and well-maintained. _Fair Local Economy_ Back small businesses and community groups that ensure support reaches those who need it most. _Community Solidarity and Ethics_ Stand up for fairness, equality and environmental justice to ensure our borough acts with compassion. I’ll put our community first. I’ll challenge complacency and lead with the energy, compassion and empathy needed to serve St James.
