Mark Sutcliffe

Mark was born in Clitheroe and attended the Grammar School before leaving for university and embarking on a 20+ year career down south. He returned to the Ribble Valley with his family in 2015. Married with two grown-up children, Mark lives in Clitheroe and works for a conservation charity. He’s a member of the town council and was elected to Ribble Valley Borough Council to represent St Mary’s Ward in 2025. Since then, he has served on multiple council committees and was also extensively involved in the local government reorganisation process. He takes an active interest in the community and has been involved in the Town Team for the last two years. Previously he has helped organise the town’s bonfire and the annual Ribble Valley Ride. Mark is passionate about supporting a thriving town centre economy and takes a keen interest in sustainability and environmental issues. When he’s not at work or on council business, Mark can often be found wandering the footpaths of the Ribble Valley with a small black spaniel and he has published two guidebooks on walking in Lancashire.
